At last, the Congress high command has made a clear statement on the contentious Telangana issue, saying that it is considering three options to look into the demand.
According to AICC officials spokesman Abhishek Singvi, the options before the party are: completing the process for the formation of Telangana state within one year; granting statehood for Telangana without Hyderabad; and constitution of a second states’ reorganization commission.
Singhvi announced that the party would make a clear statement after the Union Cabinet reshuffle on Tuesday.
He said there is no political uncertainty in the state and asked the party leaders not to make any provocative statements till the Centre takes a decision.
However, within minutes of Singhvi making the statement, both the Telangana and Seemandhra leaders made provocative comments. While Telangana Rashtra Samithi legislator T Harish Rao said there was no question of accepting Second SRC or Telangana without Hyderabad, Congress MP from Vijayawada said the Congress party would have to stick to its earlier Congress Working Committee resolution on the second SRC.
